Choose thread by its number; screen colors are an uncalibrated preview. Check the bundle for estimated amounts. You also need thin felt, sewing thread, a sharp sewing needle, ruler, scissors and clips.

Check the cloth count

These measurements are for 14-count Aida and this 24 × 64 chart. Select 16 or 18 count in the planner when that is what you used.

Leave four squares, then fold four

Measure from the whole chart edge, including blank squares. Keep four squares visible on each side and four more to fold under.

Test the thickness

Felt and folded corners add bulk. Try the layers in the intended book before sewing. This hand-sewn finish uses no glue; avoid thick stuffing or stiff inserts.

Too little spare fabric for the folds? Keep the edges intact and choose another finishing method before cutting. A smaller trim cannot create a missing allowance.

Before you wrap it

Tick these as you work. Checkmarks are for this visit; print the list to keep it beside your stitching.
